SIZE
14200 hectares (35089 acres)
DESCRIPTION
IMPROVEMENTS: The farm has a staff house at the farm´s main entrance gate and a disused staff house at one corner. There are 5 reservoirs and corrals next to the first staff house. The farm can be traversed almost entirely as it has good tracks
RESOURCES: The farm has natural grasses common to the province of Mendoza; main pastures are Stipa setigera, silver grass and false Rhodes grass. Among bushes, rock rose, saltbush, piquillín, chañar and broom predominate.
CLIMATE: Annual rainfall in the area averages approximately 160 – 220 mm (source: IADIZA-MENDOZA March 2005). 90% of the rain falls in the summer season.
CLIMATE: Soil on the farm is mainly sandy, and stony in some areas, enriched by a natural grazing land, typical of the Province of Mendoza, and bushland, which enables setting up either a cattle or a goat operation. Two well defined areas with different levels stand out: one is flat, located close to the farm´s entrance, whereas the other is stony and lies in the centre of the farm.
WATER: There are 5 reservoirs with different water levels. Water is of good quality for cattle. These reservoirs are able to be enlarged and deepened, whereas the building of ponds would convert them into dams, making the most of them. Water level lies at roughly 50 m depth. Taking advantage of the difference in the existing levels it is possible to set up dams, entubate the water and deliver it to
different places. In addition, if the farm is fenced, it is possible to divide the fields with electric fences –fed with solar energy–, which would enable a better grazing and improve the cattle carrying capacity.
APTITUDE
Cattle raising and/or tourism. The farm has a rectangular shape, quite regular, devoid of perimeter fences. Profitable potential: as pointed out before, if the farm is enclosed, divided with electric fences and properly managed, up to 700 head of cattle can be incorporated.
